New DealDash Icon

Did you see the latest new icon on DealDash.com?

I must admit that some of the DealDash icons add a lot of variety and interest to this fun new way of shopping.

Each symbol provides specific information regarding each individual auction. DealDash has clearly marked the auctions and makes it very easy for us to know what rules apply. Before placing our bids, we need to pay attention to any and all of the icons located in the upper left corner of each auction.

Early Bird Auctions

One of the latest new icons on DealDash is called the “Early Bird Auction.” It is identified with a round gold circle with a dove in the center.

Wherever we see this auction, it does not allow us to start placing our bids early in the automated bidder, BidBuddy. The “Early Bird Auction” requires all shoppers interested in participating in the auction to wait until the last 10 seconds before the auction is actively open before we are allowed to place our first bid. In other words, we must be an early bird shopper and be ready to place our bids within the last 10 seconds before the auction opens, but not before then.

So far, “Early Bird Auctions appear to be fairly popular with lots of participation.

Let’s take a look at some of the other icons on DealDash, too.

No Exchange Auctions

Did you see the round red circle icon with reversed round white arrows inside the circle on the top and bottom?  This means that if we win the auction we will not have the option of exchanging it for bids.

Some shoppers might only place bids on products they think will close early just so they can exchange it for a lot of free bids instead. If we shop for free bids instead of the product, we must pay attention to this icon.

No Re-entry Auctions

Did you see the round purple icon symbol with the fist inside? If you want to know what it stands for all you have to do is click on it and an explanation will appear. The first time I saw this icon, I did not completely understand how it worked because it states that once we leave the auction, we cannot get back in.

Actually, we can temporarily leave this auction before it reaches the “No New Bidders” limit. However, we must return to actively place more bids again by the time the auction approaches the “No New Bidders” limit. If we’re too late, we’re out and blocked from participating.

10-Bid Auctions

Did you see the round green circle icon with a money bag and the number 10 in the middle?  This icon takes us to a whole new level of competition, but shoppers with a huge supply of bids might like it.

One thing remains the same. Each time we bid, the price of the auction still only goes up by one penny. However, each time we place a bid, 10 bids will be deducted from our account instead of one. In other words, if we have 100 bids in our account, we will only be able to bid 10 times before we completely run out of bids.

Runner-up Discounts

Did you see the round purple icon symbol that looks like a ring with the number “2” in the middle? This means that the runner-up to the winner (the shopper who comes in second place) will receive a discount if the runner-up decides to do a BIN (Buy-It-Now).

For example, when the auction closes, if the BIN is $200 the first-runner-up might be offered a discount of 50 percent. That means the first runner-up could do a BIN for $100 instead of $200. But we must pay close attention because the discount is not always the same. It varies and could be more or less.

Popular Auctions on DealDash

Some auctions on DealDash.com are more popular than others.

I decided to look for a few of the most popular auctions to find out what the winners like most about them.

Let’s take a look at some of these auctions.

Solar-powered Pathway Lights

Did you see the set of 8 color-changing solar-powered pathway lights? They come in packs of 4 each and the winner receives two packs to make a total of 8.

Some previous winners love these lights so much that they plan to order more. One customer wrote, “These are the best solar lights I’ve ever owned in my life. I will be buying more and more and more.” In fact, after 58 reviews by previous winners, these solar-powered lights received an overall rating of 4.94 out of a possible 5.0. Only the best auction products receive such a high rating.

These lights made with waterproof plastic can be used along any outdoor space such as stairs, gardens and lawns, and are durable enough to be used season after season. They automatically turn on at night and automatically shut off during the day.  According to the DealDash description, they feature both solid white and multi-color auto changing light modes.

The solar-powered 1200 mAh rechargeable batteries can emit a total of 80 lumens. The dimensions are 4.6-inches in diameter by 1-inch in height. It has a 2.4-inch by 2.4-inch solar panel, which takes 6 to 8 hours to charge and can stay on from 8 to 10 hours.

These solar-powered lights have a BIN of $120. So far some of the best deal previous winners received are:

  • Oct. 11, these solar-powered pathway lights sold at $1.16 and the winner paid a total of $3.76 including the cost of the 13 bids placed;
  • Oct. 9, these lights sold at only 68 cents and the winner paid a total of $3.08 including the cost of the 12 bids placed; and
  • Sept. 27, these solar-powered lights sold at 4 cents and the winner paid a total of only 24 cents including the cost of the 1 bid placed.

Perhaps I will see you in this auction.

Pool Shorts

If you would like to get a bargain price on some high-quality pool shorts, DealDash has the perfect auction for you.

This set of two pool shorts, has a BIN of $110. However, out of the last 33 auctions, this set of two pool shorts sold 23 times at less than $2.00. That’s amazing. In other words, most of the previous winners got a fantastic deal. These pool shorts have an awesome design, too. I really like the pair with the mermaids on them. Out of 23 customer reviews, these pool shorts received an overall rating of 4.95 out of a possible 5.0 and that’s really good.

These men’s pool shorts have a stretch waistline with adjustable draw strings, but it’s important to refer to the size chart to ensure you get the right waist size. It’s also important to read the washing guidelines. Do not dry clean. These pool shorts are machine washable in cold water with like colors, but do not use bleach and do not tumble dry. Hang dry them instead.

It’s amazing what super great deals we can get on DealDash. All we have to do is make sure we shop in the right auction at the right time.

Take Comfort in a Comforter

Nothing is better on a cold, winter day than to take comfort in a warm and fluffy, comforter.

The good news is that if you need some warm winter bedding, you are shopping in the right place. Many customers have already won outstanding deals on winter bedding sets on DealDash.com.

Let’s take a look at a few of the comforter sets.

3-Piece Reversible Comforter Set

This 3-piece reversible King/Cal King comforter set, with a BIN of $130 comes in an attractive chocolate brown.

This set has a BIN of $130 and includes 1 King/California King Comforter that measures 108-inches by 94-inches, and 2 King reversible shams that measure 20-inches by 40 inches.

The best news is that many customers have already won it for much less than the $130 BIN. Some of the best deals former winners in the last 30 days got so far are:

  • Sept. 22, this 3-piece King/Cal King comforter set sold at 16 cents and the winner paid a total of only 62 cents including the 3 bids used;
  • Sept. 25, this comforter set sold at $1.62 and the winner paid a total of $4.22 including the cost of the 13 bids placed; and
  • Oct. 12, this comforter set sold at $1.30 and the winner paid a total of $8.32 including the cost of the 40 bids placed;

One of the great features of this comforter set is that it is 100 percent hypoallergenic for allergy sufferers. It is also designed to prevent the fiber from shifting which, according to the auction description, “eliminates the need for regular fluffing.” The shams have hidden zippers that are very close to the hem line so they are small and “unobtrusive.” According to the auction description, the cover is, “made of fine-combed 100 percent imported microfiber yarns.”

Based on 422 customer reviews, this comforter set has received an overall rating of 4.85 out of a possible 5.0, which says a lot about the high-quality of this comforter set.

Full/Queen White Comforter

Some people say we cannot go wrong with a white comforter.

This Full/Queen white down fiber comforter has a BIN of $120. It includes only the comforter (no shams) and measures 92-inches by 92-inches.

Before shopping for any auction, it’s a good idea to read the reviews by previous winners.

So far, based on 1,828 customer reviews, this comforter received an overall rating of 4.82 out of a possible 5.0. Some previous winners say this comforter is lightweight and thinner than expected, but the overall comments are fairly positive.

Some of the best deals so far were:

  • Oct. 11, this Full/Queen White Comforter sold at $1.99 and the winner paid a total of $2.39 including the cost of the 2 bids placed;
  • Oct. 9, this Full/Queen White Comforter sold at only 20 cents and the winner paid a total of 40 cents including the cost of the 1 bid placed; and
  • Oct. 7, this Full/Queen White Comforter sold at $1.42 and the winner paid a total of $1.55 including the cost of the 6 bids placed.

Nobody can go wrong if they win a deal like that.

Selecting Winning Auctions

Do you know how to select winning auctions on DealDash.com?

Shoppers who just randomly start bidding on various auctions without having a particular plan in place will most likely not win many auctions. Most shoppers who win auctions on DealDash already have their winning strategies down to a science, including me. However, if I break my own rules, I will not win.

As a long-time customer who has been shopping on DealDash since February 2012, I’ve come up a list of several winning rules. I will list some of them below.

Finding ‘easy to win’ auctions

Not all auctions are alike. Some auctions are a lot easier to win than others, but we must learn how to select the “easy to win” auctions. Some of the things to look for are:

  • Go to the “Winner’s List” and see which auctions have been selling for the fewest number of bids. Shopping in an auction that has been selling for the lowest number of bids might be a good place to start.
  • I also look to see many other shoppers are competing in the auction? If there are more than 30 qualified shoppers in an auction, I will usually look for another auction with less competition. However, there are some exceptions to this rule. Sometimes it depends on who the other shoppers are. If I see any power shoppers competing in the auction, I will move on and find another auction, but if nearly all the other shoppers are new, I might compete, anyway, because new shoppers are usually easier to beat.
  • If I see a high-dollar auction that has been consistently selling for bargain prices, it could be a good indication that it might be an “easy to win” auction.

Avoid distractions

Even when I find an “easy to win” auction, I can easily lose the auction if I allow other distractions to prevent me from paying close attention.  One of the biggest mistakes I make is that I often start shopping at the same time I’m writing these blogs. It’s never a good idea to shop when we have other distractions. I lost many auctions simply because of other distractions and interruptions.

Check out the previous winners

It often pays to check out previous winners to see how many bids they used to win the auction. If an auction has 20 previous winners and 18 of the 20 winners used 100 bids or less to win, we can get a pretty good idea how many bids we might need to win the auction.

Look for slow times

Perhaps fewer people are shopping in the auctions on certain days of the week or certain times of the day or night.

If there is a special football game many shoppers might be drawn to that instead of shopping on DealDash. Whenever that happens we could use it to our advantage to shop when the competition is lower than normal.

Some shopping features are more popular than others, too. So we could use that to our advantage, too.

The bottom line

We can usually find some auctions that are easier to win than others. All we have to do is look for them.

Happy shopping everyone!
