1. Choosing the right camera.
Whether you choose a new dSLR (Digital Single-Lens Reflex) camera – which is a digital camera that combines the optics and mechanism of a single lens reflex with a digital sensor. Light travels through the lens and then to a mirror that alternates to send the image to either the viewfinder or the sensor. a DSLR allows you to customize your photos and get creative with the ability to change the ISO, Exposure, White Balance, Aperture and Shutter Speed. Most dSLR cameras allow you to shoot in RAW – the highest quality and a great setting if you want to edit your photos in lightroom or with Photoshop.
dSLRs can be spendy, but did you know that you can save money on a brand new dSLR camera if you win one on a penny auction in DealDash?

The BetterPhoto Guide to Digital Photography (BetterPhoto Series)Paperback – buy it on Amazon for only $18.63digitalphoto
This book is amazing. Very well written and easy to understand. It’s actually what we used as a textbook in a digital photography college class. It will teach you everything from basic equipment, technical jargon to everything you need to know about lighting, setting your exposure, shutter speed, whitebalance, composition, file formats, filters, lens choice, editing images, printing and so much more. Highly recommend this one, especially if you are tired of just shooting in automatic. Shooting in manual with your own ability to adjust settings is perfect.
